    quality S&L RK

I am just wondering why the german handcraftsmen make such weird pencil paint on those highly decorations.

Germans have a good eye for good quality (at that time as it is nowadays) so why did they apply the paint on those S&L KC's like someone who had drunk to much beer?

    Anyone perhaps an explanation?

Because they didn't know we were going to put them under microscopes.

but you don't need to put them under a microscope to see the "mistakes" in painting...

I reckon the frosting leaves a porous finish which absorbs the paint... capillary action..

Some crosses received a final spray to the core after assembly. At least that is what has been posted on the forum before.

              just a few examples.

I still wonder why the germans, with such high quality standards, would spray / paint in such way on the nicely finished/ frosted KC's ....

Same problem as on some EKs

I wish I had this RK no matter of black dots on frame..

I agree with you that it is odd. I find it unattractive, in addition.

Well to put it in a rather over used US cliche

"Hey Buddy!!! Haven't you heard there's a war on!!"

Honestly it sounds like you want to head back to S&L for a refund.

I had read that the soldering of the frames could cause the paint to fail or discolor. The touch-up or repainting, at the factory, is not uncommon.

Very true Don, I think that some get too anal when looking at decorations, after all, these are not Franklin Mint pieces made for the collectors market!

Do you have a big mirror?

                          Or are you double-jointed?

                          Maybe both!

I think the finish on the RK shown here is pretty sloppy, no matter how you look at it.

The black 'overlaps' I've seen on S&L EKs and RKs in the past have been due to the inside silver rim tarnishing...............not to paint overlapping.

Are you sure this hasn't been repainted?

It is this very feature which I find so attractive in the S&L product.
