He is selling it as postwar and there's no reason at this point to think otherwise.

Anybody have any of the field made oakleaves or crosses to show.
When they had the first hunt bros. scrap drive when silver went to 45.00 an ounce around 74 or thereabouts, i happened upon a set of oakleaves with the ring missing, that were well made in a scrappers junk , but i always supected may have been field made, as like dietrich i have heard that also, although i wasnt aware they did so in submarines.
I am positive the ring must have been marked , as that explains why they were sweated off. I was only aware of "in the field versions' as the back of mine is so much different than any i have ever seen to date. They may not be silver as they look like they may have been checked, but i dont know for sure, i never tested them .
Although They have never been seen,I have to be honest to say ; i am just a little gun shy.

Juoneen,
The odds of your fieldmade Oakleaves being good are very, very small. Nevertheless, if you are aware of this fact, it would not hurt to show them here
to see what others think. "Fieldmade" in the case of Oakleaves and other higher grades, means, almost by definition, that there is no construction technique or other factor to relate them to. You may believe that they are real, but I will tell you from bitter experience that until you can find a photograph or something similar to confirm that they were actually worn by someone, you will be regarded (as I am with my thoughts about other makers of the RK, even though I have a firmer ground to stand on than you would and, luckily, more support from serious collectors) as a naive person by the great bulk of those who frequent internet forums (including this one). That's just the way it is. You just have to have confidence that your instincts are as good, or better, than your critics, and be able to prove that by the quality of other items in your collection.
Best,
Leroy
