    This is an interesting photo. I have already seen such a big KC to the neck of Stubaf. Werner Pötschke when he was awarded the EL. This photo is displayed in Agte's book about Jochen Peiper biography.

              And yet...if we were offered one of these crosses at a show, by a seller who said "I swear, it came directly from a veteran!", we might well laugh and pass it up unless we knew what we were looking at as a result of these photos!

                        Man, these are some excellent photographs! You can really tell they made a big to-do with the winning of one of these. Even the serious look on the faces of the Lansers expresses their respects to the recipient. Wonderful photos!

                          What is the source or reference on this photo that you posted? These one piece cast 1939 EKs are extremely interesting to me. I have a one piece, high quality example in my collection that I have been curious about for years. I have never seen another one like it before or since. Any help would be appreciated.

                              can i ask were these massive crosses manufactured officially or were they hand made my the friends and soldiers of the recipient as a kind of path on the back??
