This is an interesting photo. I have already seen such a big KC to the neck of Stubaf. Werner Pötschke when he was awarded the EL. This photo is displayed in Agte's book about Jochen Peiper biography.

Man, these are some excellent photographs! You can really tell they made a big to-do with the winning of one of these. Even the serious look on the faces of the Lansers expresses their respects to the recipient. Wonderful photos!

can i ask were these massive crosses manufactured officially or were they hand made my the friends and soldiers of the recipient as a kind of path on the back??
