It surely looks different than the 'classical' S&L flaw and the ones I've seen on Meybauers and Souvals!!?

Actually, this 'flaw' however slight or severe could be on any arm of the K&Q IC 1st. as I imagine the face portion could be soldered in any direction...not so with a Knight's Cross.

George...any hint of this on yours?

There are some very small spots where the beading is flattened, but the effect is not like on yours.

To die crack or not to die crack?

It must be the 9 o'clock arm since the center beading is in the same relation than mine (and I guess george's also). There is nothing at all to see on my cross, not even the slightest starting of something not any falt spots.

Interestingly Gordon mentioned today in another thread that the EK1 dies of K&Q were not used after the war - those are in private ownership of a former employee.

Now here we have an unmarked (= pre 41) K&Q with a "flaw" against at least two (most likely numerous) marked K&Q (post 41) with no "flaw".

I guess it's not a flaw. It just doesn't look like a crack in a die.

I just don't understand that if it's not a flaw in the die..how and why would the raised area show BETWEEN the ridges...under 30x it is visible on the raised ridges unfortunately I can't photo this!
