Excellent commentary here. Maybe anyone with photos of other Maubauer pieces could post them here to expand the knowledge base.

Alex,
I was waiting for such a question.
There is no reason for Meybauer not to produce gold crosses. Neverteless we don't find so much. in fact except Richard"s one, which is convincing and which retains all the details expected for a Meybauer cross (note that it is not a gilded silver massive but a gilded tombac), I just saw another one which is still on sale (Hüsken). on this latest cross , details looks OK, excpt the gilding which is faded. In order to answer you, yes I believe Meybauer made gold crosses, but I'm more confortable on Richard's one

Indeed, I know very little about it. However, They said Meybauer Did Gold ones but only based on tombac and the only acceptable m.m. on such pieces is L/13.
Of course, just a "gossips"

Hi Alex,
Indeed , I forgot to speak about the L/13, which of course are perfectly original in gold version. The issue is more on the massive silver gilded crosses.
Concerning Richard's cross gilding looks good, at least on the pictures and the details of all the parts of the cross match also with known original. When you study Meybauer crosses, you note two main variants; the early ones which retain the design of those stamped with coat of arms, and the L/13 stamped types. but between both types, there is a transitional one which mixe parts of early and L/13 crosses. I guess that Meybauer used parts of both crosses during a transitional period which could be dated 1941 (date of LDO).
just an opinion and topic of discussion.

are there any images at your files ? Better collage of 3.
Thank You in advance.
Alex.
in fact you can find some crosses stamped L/13 with the right style of catch (rond section) and right eagles design, but the early crosses pin, instead of the more typical L/13 pin.
It is not a transitionnal die, but just a mix.

Jacques, you need to team up Dietrich's publishing, and write a damn book on SC's already! A quality reference on these is missing!!
No, the SCiS without swords I posted was offered to me 5 years ago and was a real beauty but I already had one in even better condition but without the Meybauer logo. This is mine and you will see that alhough the logo is missing, the "900" silver mark is at right angles to the pin assembly.
