I was wondering what the relative numbers of each individual manufacturer of the DKiG. I would assume that Zimmerman is the most common and S&L the least. What about the other manufacturers? Anyone care to rank from most common to least for this award? I assume there is no data, but would be based upon the experience of collectors coming across the respective pieces. Thanks

You're right about Zimmermanns and S&Ls.
I don't have any scientific data about the others, but I know that I see Deschlers and Junckers offered for sale fairly regularly and about equally, and Kleins maybe a bit less so, and Godets slightly less than Kleins.
( Like I said, not very scientific, but just my informal observations. )George

...The rarest DK in gold is the one with diamonds from Rath Munich. Believed 20 pieces made but probably a few more.
Than followed by Meybauer of Berlin, the Deschler 10 rivet construction.
A wartime S&L is not seen every day but not that rare either.

Hello,
a few years ago there was an article in a german military magazine ( I don´t know the name, I only saw a copy of this site ) about DKs and their manufactures, and there was a picture of a Meybauer DKiG marked "7". I am not sure that Meybauer was a DK manufacture, I never had one in my hands. I agree with George, Godets are the rarest. Maybe we can start a statistic ?
greetings
Mathias

Has anyone actually seen a Meybauer? It seems as though from the information on the DKiG on this site, that the author had actually never had one in his hands. So from the responses, among the known manufacturers with crosses available in the market today, and with the exception of the cross with diamonds, that the Deschler 10 rivet and the Godet are the least common? Thanks

The remark by Mathias made me look thru my archives. Should have done it earlier since the same archive also shows the Rounder RK as a legitimate cross.
Here's the picture of the Meybauer DK. It says it's a very rare variant and the obverse is exactly as the ones from Deschler. The reverse shows differences. The manufacturing of DK's by Meybauer was forbidden by the Präsisialkanzlei on 24th May 1942 via letter since all orders had been placed, mainly to Zimmermann and Deschler.
The article also mentones that these pieces are sometimes mixed up with S&L, however the rivets are different (ball type, not hollow).
Interesting!
