    Very strange Cased EK1 ;-)

    Hello ;-)

this cross is from an auction "321miliweb" ;-)
The auction pictures was realy bad, but I could see a pin system like K&Q and the inner frame wasn't round like K&Q and the 3 of the number design had no nose! That brought to one and only cross maker! The auction text was about a number "1" maker mark cross!
But it could be aslo a "2" maker mark?!?!?! Or was it a bad try to use an simular maker mark to increase the price?!
Or is it a signature from the owner?

If I would start a selection, maybe 99% would choose " bad try...to increase the price"

So, I'm looking forward for your opinion ;-)

So let's turn now to the EK1 CASE!

I don't know, if I always didn't saw the pressed double frame!
But it is the first time, that I see the pressed double frame on the side! Pls, see the pictures with the red arrows! Is it a characteristic to find the ID of the Case? Do you know this version?

    ...

    What is your opinion?

I have one just like yours, only unmarked. I've always presumed the core to be a W&L...

            Strange ek1

            Stefan;

i have one just like this..i believe this was a very early k/q. When i showed photos of this cross to several waf members; they also agreed it was a possible k/q but with a different core. I think they are a stunning variety of cross and quite unique.

I'm confused. I see the same (3) die flaws on Stefan's frame (mine included) typical to early Juncker. Also the scrunched bead at 2:00 adjacent the swas. Please excuse me for asking, but how do we attribute this frame to K&Q? Or, are we just speaking of the hardware?

                Stefan,

I have a case just like yours. It has the same push button, the same pressed double frame and cream-colored interior...

                    Stefan,

I also have one marked Paul Meybauer, with the same color interior as yours, with the pressed double frame...

I also have one more with an Orth '15' inside...same pressed double frame. I probably have more. Not rare.

Here are the (3) cases with the pressed double frame, as you call it. Some are faint, others are easily seen, but all have the pressed frame...

                            The EK1 is :
Post 2 - the cross has a Juncker frame with a Juncker pin set . The core is a W&L 3rd Type .
The cases I have - some have the crease and some I have do not ... , just like in Robert's picture , some are more pronounced than on others .
