    Rusty Meybauer Ek1, marked?

    Hi All,

    I recently bought this cross, it is rusty, little paint left, but I like a cross that has lived.
    It was sold as an unmarked Meybauer. However I think I see the 7 mark on the needle.

    Also there is a small "stairs" in the center of the upper cross arm, where normally in the second class the hump or small loop would be attached. Is this normal for this maker?

    Is it a Meybauer ?

    Here are the pics, comments are welcome;

    Best regards,

    Michel

    Yes it looks to be marked 7, the stampings were pretty poor on some 7 marked Meybauers! The top arm mark looks like a possible clamp mark as this arm looks to have been resoldered.

          Thanks for the remarks and the link!

          It looks resoldered from these pics, however I think the solder has loosened and left holes were it fell out. Only the right arm is still smoothly connected. If you open the needle, the tension on the backplate makes it curve a little and opens the frame at some parts. I only opened it once Now it stays closed.

          Here are some pics of the solder so you can judge for yourselves, please let me know your opinion.

          Best Regards,
          Michel

          Solder top to bottom: left arm, top arm, right arm and bottom arm:
