    EK1 Round 3 :

A question to all : Have not worked on R3s much , just have one Deumer . Was looking at this EK1 R3 with a quit odd looking 9s and back color on it . A Zimmermann 20 marked cross , could not find one like it here . Did this maker have R3 cores ? Is it original ?

          Hi Douglas

I have never seen one like this, and my suspicion is that it's a fake core swapped into a '20' marked Zimmerman frame. The date looks like a well-known R-3 fake core. Or just the '20' pin has been attached to a fake one like shown below.

Also, I think Zimmerman originally made their crosses unmarked, right? R-3's are early production, '20' marked EKs would be later. This one smells wrong.

Here's a fake one with its usual hardware:

              Hello
I agree with other members, I have just seen this EKI m.m. 20, it was an original Zimmermann but core was replaced with a fake to up-grade it.

OK , ... thanks gentlemen , ... something was bothering me about this one , thats why I put it up ! A closer look , as poor as it is , seams to indicate large gaps and thick soldering ... ! What a waste of a good cross ,

There are problems with all parts of the cross front and back ! The maker mark looks quit close .. you have a larger picture of it ?

                      Hi Douglas ;-)

I can't make any further fotos!

The EK1 went back to the seller, because I buy always with money back guarantee - if it's not an original! I paid 220 Euro and got my money back ;-)

Just hoping for more detail on the maker mark . That one has to be a fake mark on a fake cross . It would have been good to have a better side by side comparison to an original 20 maker mark . It would help to identify 'added' post war 20s to unmarked Zimmermann crosses .
