    Knight´s Cross "4"

Here are some pictures of my Steinhauer & Lück KC marked 4 935.
It was awarded to a Gefreiter Reinhard and comes with the issue case and paper box.
I don´t have his dates handy, but if some fellow collector here has...

        DoB : 10/05/1921
DoD : ? (maybe still living)
        DKiG : not awarded

              Interesting!!

Ludwig this is very interesting!! The general opinion is that NO S&L 935/4 have been attributed AND if PK #s were instituted in approx. mid '44 etc, etc.
I wonder if this was possibly a replacement cross?
Also, to further clarify is there something else (other than the name scratched in to the cross) to add to the item?
              Dave
              Regards,
              Dave

                Ludwig and David-
This may be off the track, but after reading the DKiG S&L thread and your posts here, you obviously feel that S&L made a pre-1945 RK. How about the DKiG? I had posted a thread below "DKiG opinions?". The respondants felt as though they would not buy a S&L award beyond an EK1. This piece you have posted, from the view of a complete novice, would suggest otherwise.
Do you feel as though S&L made a pre-1945 DKiG as well?
What do you think of the images of the DKiG I had posted?
Is there evidence of the name of a true award winner for the DKiG with the name similarly self inscribed?
Sorry, may be off the mark, butafter reading these S&l posts, I am just trying to understand what the consensus is regarding the RK and DKiG S&Ls. Thanks.

Tom I have never studied DKiG etc. so I can't comment on pre'45 S&L's!
Knight's Crosses however surely were made by S&L during the war AND there's strong suspicion that minor production continued for the 'well connected' after the war!

                    KCs

About KCs made by Steinhauer & Lück can only be said, that the made really nice KCs during the war.
In fact their crosses are the most common ones. Then Juncker and after them Klein & Quenzer.
It is said that a wellknown dealer in England has the tools (with die flaws) and had many crosses made after the war (during the 80´s I think) and sold them as originals. I have no reason to doubt this rumour, as the very same cocksucking dealer has tried to sell me such crosses as originals.
They are miles from the original quality of Steinhauer & Lück!!!
Steinhauer & Lück produced KCs with and without die flaws during the war.

My cross comes with a photo of the holder and photocopies of his award citations.

That they never produced crosses marked 4 935 is bull****. My cross is 100% original and marked so.

Finally. Denis, were did you get Reinhardt´s date of birth?

Nice cross and a 4 935 is entirely fine. I assume this one has no die flaws but is exactly the same die characteristics as the unflawed early S&L. I like it and believe you have an attributed cross there.

Now if you could just turn on the lights and take a few more photos...

Thank you Brian. And i understand what you mean about the lights. Pictures are a little bit too dark. Problem is that I have no camera. These pictures were taken by a friend of mine. As soon as I have some more pictures taken, I will post them here.

                          Hi Ludwig
Supposedly on das-ritterkreuz.de on by info with the OdR.
What I've read : "My cross comes with a photo of the holder and photocopies of his award citations."
Do you have his KC preliminary certificate ??
If so, I would LOVE to see it !!!!!

It´s only a photo copy, Denis. And a bad one too, I´m afraid.

                              Hi Ludwig

I understand. If you could tell me the date of the signature, the name of the signatory (likely Burgdorf but it might also be Schmundt) and if there is a small caption at the bottom (Felddr. Abt. (mot.) 631), it would be great.
                              Regards
                              Denis
