I doesn't clean my Iron Crosses!!!!

Hello there, I personally dont clean my Iron Crosses with anything to clean them. NEVER clean EKs and other medals with original patina!!!! I always leave my medals in my collection alone with their original patina. Cleaned medals will be devalued because of cleaning. Any method of cleaning like Thomas cleaning on his cross will ruin the value in long run. I strongly advice any collector not to clean their medals. They should leave original patina on their medals alone! My advice: NEVER CLEAN THE MEDALS!!!!!! Thanks regards,James

Interesting thread. I love these before and after cases.

I have to say, not all patina is nice patina. When I see a nice patina, It is like being in 'love'. I mean, I want the cross because of this and that look.
The patina on your cross is certainly NOT nice. Its boring, and looks like puke, tbh.

You did nice work on this cross really nice!

Im also afraid of getting water on the cores, becasue i know the water will get under the beading and are we can't be sure its 100% dry? We might face a bad rust damage because of wetness. Im sure you got it all dry

The worse case scenario is cleaned crosses that used to have a dark brown/greenish/black patina. Ruining that is a SHAME. Its better to sell the cross and buy a mint example. Once a cross is ruined, its forever.
