Thank you Carl,
I only wish we had someone who knew every step involved in the making of dies. It would be very interesting, and would serve in helping us understand how the makers revised or repaired their dies when they became overly damaged from too much use. I suppose there are just too many years between us now to fully know these things.

It's definitely a perfect match.
It's a little hard to show this without actually being able to see it move into place, so I'm showing 1 photo offset:
..and one perfectly overlayed:
There's no question that the identification is complicated by the side-light on the core photo that illuminates the sides of the date and makes it look imposingly tall. But I hope this overlay shows it...Best regards,

Also, I noticed that Detlev Niemann listed "several other "20" marked lower [EK] crosses" in that burnt horde. Leaves it open to speculation whether there may have been "20" marked EK2s among them...
Out of curiosity, Robert: what are the markings on that Godet EK2?Best regards,

If I could attach an animation, I'd do it. But there's no doubt. So (given the known connections between Godet and Zimmerman) I think it's fair to say that this is a core for a Zimmerman cross.
