    Cased KVK1 w/o Swords.

    Gentlemen,

I found this last night during a visit with a friend, and just had to have it. Though i have several other KVK1s without swords, this is my first cased example. It is unmarked, so i wonder about the maker. Also, the catch is missing on the case, but otherwise it is a very beautiful example. It does appear to have some dye flaws along the 12 o'clock arm. I would love to hear your opinions on this piece. Thank you in advance.

    Sincerely,

    Jeremiah

                          Maker?

                          Any ideas?

                          Thanks,

                          Jeremiah

The first thing that catches my attention is the bottom arm of the cross. One point is much longer than the other. Or is this an optical illusion? If one point is longer than the other I would question its authenticity.

                              Robert,

I finally had some time to sit down with this cross and look through records. You are right in mentioning that there seems to be a difference in length on both the top and bottom arms. One side seems to be slightly out of whack on both ends. Though, it isn't as bad as my pictures would make it out to be. I did a little research and found that the maker Julius Bauer and Sohne or mm 43's characteristics are all present here to a fault. So, i do believe this to be an authentic Julius Bauer and Sohne unmarked KVK1 without swords. Can anyone else see it?

                              Thanks,

                              Jeremiah
