    Zimmerman horde

    Hi all
I'd like to re-visit this 'horde' if I may. I know this has been discussed in the past, but what does everyone really think about the Zimmerman burnt out horde?
why do I only see singular high end items?
    why not 200 burnt RKs?
anyone have any pics? which dealer bought it all?
is it being drip fed to us? is it all BS?
    any views?
    regards
    jon

The only pic i got, do not know if there was any pics taken at the site at the time for the find. I believe in the lot, why would any sane person destroy many RK's just to be able to make some money on almost unsellable corroded GK cores, Prinzen EK's and other half finished stuff. I think the lot is drying up, considering the more or less corroded cores and other not finished awards showing up right now. There were no EKII's found, not even frames, i've asked Barry.

Is there any reliable information on the numbers of and on the types of awards recovered?

Adrian> I know of 5 Prinzen size EK's, both 1939 and 1914. Do not know how many RK's but at least 10. No EKII's nor frames were found. Cores so far saw RK, GK, EKI and then the unfinished EK clasp. Do not know what kind of unfinished awards that is in the box in the pic above.

And yet the rusted core Barry is selling as belonging to an EK1, has the 1813 on the reverse... ??

I have met Barry at SOS and had a chance to handle that EK-2-spangen, EK-2 core, RK core, GC core and frame for '14GC.
And it looks like EK-2 core and RK core have a correct date style.
Here are the pictures of unfinished cast iron core for the 1914 Grand cross and the frame.

                          Thanks for the pics Alikn.

Did Barry have any comment as to what possible use Zimmerman would have had for a 1914 Grand Cross in the 1940's?

No, he didn't comment, but this is something we have to guess, just like that 1813GC which was made somewhere in 1870's or later (frame and core design identical to an award type of 1870GC and 1914GC) and obviously not for a person to wear, so who knows what for, but they made them and also who know how long that core was stored in that room.

...at least we have the connection of this type GC to Zimmerman and maybe that is the type in the center?
