    Fake EK2 ??

Ok, I've had this one a long time and always had a few doubts. Then I heard the story of the '333' and '666' EK2 that came out in the late 80's.

Problem is, the ring isn't marked '666' or '333' that I can see but some thing indistinguishable (see for yourself). It does have all the characteristics of the fake, sharp edges, etc. and a die flaw or the right, vertical beading...

That's about the clearest I could explode the mark to, and still be readable (although I still can't read it, even with a loupe).

I'm ready for the bad news as I feel its a repro, just need a few others to confirm it!

    Hello,

Here are some pics of a fake "333" marked EKII. I can't get a clear photo of the mark. It's very similar to yours and only looks like "333" on the right angle.
But, It's edges are very sharp and I don't like the gap between the swastika and the frame. All the fake "333" and "666" EKs I've seen have the gap on the right side of the swastika.
I've seen originals with small gaps between the top of the swastika and the frame but not like these.
    IMHO, fake.

Thanks Kevin, you've confirmed it. The die flaw is identical.

In a way I'm a happy bunny, as I've cleared a doubt that I've had for many years... I feel enlightened!

      Cheers
