    Gents,

For your viewing pleasure. One of the nicest 'Panzer' groupings recently discovered in Germany.

Very nice items. Can you tell us more about this grouping?

Did you get any uniforms or medals?

                        Panzer

This represents only a small part of the large Rittmeister Sachenbacher grouping which was sold by 'PATINA' at the Reichersthofen show in 2005. PATINA purchased the entire grouping from the family and subsequently sold all the items to Kai Winkler, Tom Johnson, and a well known German collector. I have pursued these items for the last three years and am about to bring all of the key pieces back together again.

Ritt. Sachenbacher was born in Munchen, 2 August 1910. His father served in the Bavarian Cavalry as an officer and saw action in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 and WWI.

Prior to the outbreak of hostilities, Rittmeister Sachenbacher served in a variety of duty positions to include the 17th and 18th Cavalry Regiments and as an instructor at the Cavalry school.

He earned his RK while assigned as Chef Rdf.Schw. 219, 14 December 1941. After being seriously injured, he did not return to active service until 1943, replacing the legendary tank 'Ace' Major d.R. Dr FRANZ BAEKE as Commander, Second Battalion, 11th Panzer Regiment, 6th Panzer Division. Shortly after taking command, Ritt. Sachenbacher was killed in action leading an attack to relieve German units surrounded in the Cherkassy pocket.

                        Points:

                        - The RK document is a solid cold stone mint. The outer carton has all corners intact and has the familiar colored pencil markings.
                        - All tissue and felt strips are present to include the 'Einschreiben' dated April 1944!
                        - The gold lettering on the document is 100%!
                        - I have tracked down the RK and hope to add it to my collection by the end of the year. Of course, it is a beautiful, worn 'L/12 800' along with mint case and ribbon.
                        - Note the RITTMEISTER rank listed on the document
                        - The stone mint Bavarian Uhlan shoulder boards and cartouche are his father's, verified by Patina.
                        - I also have a complete series of photographs of his RK awards ceremony.

Very nice. Hope you will post pictures of the KC and other items from this grouping once you get those items

the KC, is it the one Sachenbacher was wearing when he died?
