There's always this chance some label sticking guy screwed up and it is filled with Ersatz tobacco.

Does anyone knows how many of these packs were found?
And where they were found?
I am interesed how in the name of our Lord it is possible that such a shutload of medals could have remained hidden for over 60 years.

Someone must have seriously ignored these packages...

The Deschler horde is real, just as the Assmann, Mayer and others. The proof is in the products themselves. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with this.

As for the Christmas package of crosses, I'd personally leave them as is. Once you've broken the seal, there's no going back. Individual crosses in their cases can still be found in mint mint condition. This would serve to illustrate what's beyond the seal.

why dont you re-read my post again Mr Bobcam,,I stated very clearly that this is my opinion,,,and opinion only. If evidence and proof were provided,,i might be persuaded otherwise,,
but until then, I tend to believe its a bunch of hype...so many collectors want only "mint" stuff nowadays,,they forget this stuff is 60 to 70 tears old,,,and you are going to sit there and tell me there was a crapload of cased badges stored in ideal conditions,,that just "popped" right out of the woodwork when prices on these,,just happened to be at a premium???

The same thing was said about the mint BH Mayer EK hoard found in Russia years ago. They are also good. Or the JFS bronze IABs in packets. There are other examples too.

It takes more than just the original dies to create a perfect fake, which is what you are alluding to here.
