I am a new collector and I was wondering what are the indications that this cross is fake?

          - wrong hinge and pin system (only to find on fakes)
          - wrong frame (look's like Souval, but isn't identical)
          - core identical to a known EK II fake version

It's the EK I version from the new EK II fake, which I saw last year in Stuttgart.

Well, it fooled me too, I was sure to see a Souval before reading Daniel's post.

Thanks for sharing this info about the fakes!

Good Call Steiner! It won't stop with this! This cross had me for sure at first site! I have a lot to learn yet! Thankfully we have Daniel and the other Experten on board here!
Great looking Souval style frame work, almost convincing core! A mutant Pin that looks close to 26 B. H. Mayer's style! This needs to be added to the fakes section!
Ben, A good early nonmagnetic core Souval EKI may still have a place in a collection? I understand they are heavy.. Wartime produced well made crosses from speaking with others here that own them.

Agree Ben, they do not do it for me either!!! however I would have no problem owning an example like yours! Perhaps one day in the distant future? There are to many other Makers I want first!!!
