    Leather core EK1

So what about this? The seller claims that the core of this EK1 is not metal but either leather or ersatz cardboard "leather". Anyone ever heard of this??? Would this be VERY late in the war or what?

I've never heard of this before. Maybe others have. The pin assembly and frame detail look W&L.

It's a new one on me. (It would be nice to be able to examine it in person.)

I suppose if you wore it in the rain it would just end up being .....a cross.....?

Okay, okay, funnnnnneeeeeeee! All jokes aside (since they have been made already) I take it that no one has ever heard of a an EK1 core of anything other than metal.

I have never heard anything like that and it sounds totally crazy. "Leder Kreuz 1. Klasse"... NO WAY!

Its a prop from the early 80s softcore film "Steiner: Cross of Leather"

Seriously I have never seen or heard of such a thing but the reverse set up looks good, check the frame for being seperated and maybe the core is replaced. It could be field made, you never know.

Is the swas just l'eather', stuck on a denazified EK1?

The rest of the core looks ok to me.

If you search the forum for earlier EKs, I've found references to non metal cores. I was recently offered a velvet core EK1 which prompted my looking around for other references to non metal cores.
