I have a couple of those too. I keep them in a spot where I can see them every day to remind me.

I have large boxes of my mistakes from 45 years of collecting. It is the cost of my education, and I am still but a mere student of this hobby.

            Thanks for posting Bob.

Please compare yours to these clasps, both are Floch.
There may be minor differences, but I think they put a Floch clasp on a good ek...

            Best regards,
            Ben

                Well, same here.
We all get burned someday, maybe more then once (in my case as well) , fakers getting better, etc.

It is indeed the cost of education, and the stdy most likely will never be finished.

                best regards,
                Ben

Off to the grinder to remove the spange. It is a new on to me as I never saw this type posted in the fakes section, only the round head and raptor. I have had this for 2 decades and never knew. I appreciate the information.

I know how you feel Bob, it really sucks...

But the head as well as the beak, are the biggest give-away.

A bit more filing and the shape is different.
That's one of the reason these copies keep popping up and fooling collectors.

I am sure Floch used more then one die.
There are minor differences when you compare these claps, but they are all quite similar in design.

                      Best regards,
                      Ben

Thank you, Ben and Jon. Nothing is worse than living in ignorance. It is just another piece of my tuition in the university of militaria.
