Yes, isn't it! Think of the hundreds of people who are satisfied spending all of their extra money on this monkey junk. It's always confused me why most 'collectors' will settle for anyone's word regarding authenticity, leaving this decision to someone they've never even met. Just a short story if you will allow me - I was asked to look at a private collection six or seven years ago, someone local, a retired pharmacist. Right off the bat I spotted three fake KM badges, and a fake GWB. I took him to his computer, to an online 3rd Reich collectibles fake alert. I was sure he would be relieved to have his collection 'purged' of the fakes. When he 'saw the light' he looked at me and said these memorable words, "Well, I'm not certain I'm entirely happy I envited you here this evening." With that he led me to the door. How sad. His relationship with his 'pusher' was more important than his collection. I concluded that we were not cut from the same piece of material, and that the truth was only making him miserable.

First: "Rudolf Souval"- firm doesn't exist any longer, it was dissolved some years ago.

Second: This problem with collectors like the one you told us about is a problem which also exists even in countries like Germany and Austria, although it's much more easier to get originals direct from veterans or their families than it is in the USA.
Many of the older collectors NEVER bought books dealing with their collection interests. They always went to the same seller, who first sold them the originals he had and then EVERYTHING else. If one wanted a Bandenkampfabzeichen in gold, he got one soon. If he wanted a P/0-badge, tombak, best condition - he got it in once a week. These collectors only had some money and a "Hartung"-catalogue (a pocket-collectors guide with small black-and-white-pictures of the front of the badges), in which they made a tick behind each award they had bought.
Some of them died in the last few years and their sons or daughters tried to sell the collection. They often get really angry if somebody tells them, that their father had bought pure trash. They only know, their father spent much money on his hobby and think, someone's trying to betray them.

And, I suppose this happened often before we had the 'tools' like the computer forums and good reference books. What a disappointment it must have been for the children to find out that their investment was worth very little, and the seller ate well for many years.

Two or three month ago I saw in La Gleize the EK I version of this fake.
The front side is the same. There are with hinge/pin system and with screw back system.
