    DKG Advise

Hello all, this is my first post here but i have used this site for a few months for info on some things.
I have a DKG that im thinking on selling and i need advise on its value. I aquiered it from the daugter of the vet who "captured " it. I garuntee it to be all correct and original.
From what i can gather it is a 3rd type, made by Zimmerman{20}. It seems to me to be in excellent shape. very little wear,no damage that i can see, other that a ding or two to the points of the "rays". Looks to be minor, you can see them in the photo of the back.

    **Better Pics**

Should i list this in the for sale forum or is there a better place to sell it?

Let me know what you think, thanks-- Mark

I Think it's a fake - the date is on the left side. Originals have it at the bottom .....

The enamel and core on that DKIG look to be in almost perfect condition, it looks very nice. Is there a maker mark on the underside of the pin?

As a rough estimate (based on the very good condition of the core) I would expect that to sell in a European dealers for 1700 to 1800 euros.

Here you go Dietrich. I told him to disassemble the wreath and put it back together with the date on the bottom

BTW .. another good sign on a good cross (see the yellow circle).

The enamel is perfect or close too it. i see no scuffs with the naked eye. That is fuzz or hair{?} around it that i cleaned off after i took the above pic.

So i should realize about 2800.00 for it? If i ship it over seas , who do i use that wont lose/damage it? I use the USPS to ship knives over seas but the insurence is no good outside the country.

Thanks guys, you have been a big help.

NEVER mail it without insurance unless you have a signed copy of a liability release and reponsibility for shipping damage from the buyer. I use Fedex for everything and they remain the only company I have not had problems with for international business and TR plaything shipping. For something like this I personally would try to sell it in Country first. At least then if there is a problem you are only dealing with the USPS. Nice cross, looks to be unworn.

He's pointing out the small dark flaw on one of the rays. I've pointed to it with an arrow. Hopefully, it will help you to see it.....

                        Cheers,

                            Cartophilis,
I am in no way trying to wreck your sale ... but ... PLEASE ...

Take care and make sure BOTH parties understand what is involved with the Customs in Brazil. Make sure he checks all the terms and conditions of how he wants the package declared and such.

We have read some real horror stories of items being held up and confiscated in Brazil and it ended with having both parties extremely upset and alot of name calling and bad feelings to boot.

                            Good Luck

                              Hello People,

The friends would have to take well-taken care before generalizing the cases occurred in the past. The case that you are mentioning was something isolated.

I´m into collecting militaria for many years, bought many high end items from forum members and NEVER had any problem. It was said here before: Brazilian customs like any other country have LAWS. I buy militare of some moderators of WAF, GCA, Gentlemans and of all dealers of the world and I didn't have problems for 9 years...

I told our friend Carto, that I would pay via Paypal and wanted to receive the shipping via FEDEX (fully paid by me) without insurance (at my own risk). Done that MANY times without any trouble.

Sorry, I think it´s not right to make judgements about a whole country based on one situation only. Many collectors living outside the USA and Europe nows what I mean.

                              Regards,

                              Schmidt
