German III. Reich Marshal Baton - Price

    Hello:

Does anyone in this forum have information about the market price for an undoubted genuine German III. Reich marshal baton (ceremonial and/or interim baton) which was for sale in the last years.

    Thank you very much.

Goering's Reichsmarshal batons are in museums.

I assume you are speaking of Field Marshal batons??????

Andy, I'm not sure on Third Reich batons, as these don't come up for sale much, but a friend of mine has the interim baton of GFM Graf von Haeseler, which I believe he paid in the region of 10K for about ten years ago. It is made by Wagner and is cased.

VtwinVince, do you have a picture of that?
I have only seen a picture of Goerings baton at the Westpoint museum.

Interim baton from Grand Admiral Dönitz

The last interim (service) baton, so far as I know, was sold by the German auction house Hermann Historica in Munich on October 15th 2004 (auction no. 47). It was the interim baton from Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz and was sold for 75.000 Euro plus 20 percent commisssion charge.

Does someone know from further auctions of field marshal batons in the USA or in Great Britain?

Sorry, I don't have a photo of it, but it can be seen in many period photos of von Haeseler. It is a spectacular item.

                        Interim batom

The Interim baton is to be seen only since last Friday on Detlevs site, but it stands for more than a half year for sale. It was so far only offered to some selected customers. During the last months the price was reduced in several steps from 172k to 148k USD.

In my opinion and after detailed research the price is still too high. Although the Interim baton belongs to the great rarity of German military, the Interim baton is from the view of many collectors relatively inconspicuous contrary to the large Field Marshal baton.

The Interim baton is – as I said - very rare especially in the original case. But if the interim baton is really a bargain, it would be already long sold.

In the very recommendable book “Mythos Marschallstab” (translated: Myth Marshal Baton) by the German military dealer Andre Hüsken one can see many outstanding photos of Imperial and III. Reich Field Marshal and Interim batons.
