    Estand EKI to discuss.

    Hi guys,

I was just reading over this thread and noted WenRan (Randy) has concerns with the EKI.

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...82#post2651182

I think it's a good one so have opened this thread.

To me it's an authentic Souval frame cross with Souval core. I note that the points I check when authenticating Souval EKI are all in place and that the reverse hardware conforms to examples I have seen pictured. Here is what I look for...

    Die flaw in 12 o'clock arm...it's present.
Extended centre bead in all eight corners...present.
Rounded inner beading adjacent to swas...present.
"Fat" Souval swas as opposed to "Thin" Orth (or other) swas...present.
    Dipping 3 in 1939 date...present.

Can those of you with more experience than I comment here. Am I missing something that Randy has spotted? I tried a PM to him but we are on opposite sides of the world so he is probably sound asleep as I write this.

    Regards to all,
    Stu

I am no experten by far! But from the education I have received from members, and also the excellent Souval Cross article pinned to this section! I think this is a nice wartime example.
If I were looking for an Ek1 now? this would be for sure considered!
New member Military has been asking lots of good questions on the board, Perhaps this would be a good purchase for him?

          Hello,

I agree that it is a period example, and in Randy's defense.....better safe than sorry!

              No need to apologize.

              Good morning Randy,

Randy, there is no need to be sorry about your comment. If you felt there was an issue then we should review the cross. Souval, in particular, are always ones to watch closely and I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything myself as I am still learning. To me this was just one of the checks and balances of the Estand that we all learn from. I can't imagine John has any hard feelings.

              Kind Regards,
              Stu

Stu makes a very valid point! This is why we all feel comfortable buying off the stand! It works both ways, For example.. Any HONEST seller would rather find there is a problem before any sale to save face, And not have the agony of having any sales problems in the future, As people do not forget a seller of fakes.
The beauty of the stand is all items for sale are subject to review, And Randy had a question that was resolved via the process.
And if I were in the market? This cross would now be all the more tempting! I would print this thread off and save with the cross, for any possible sale by myself in the future.
