To me Jeroen's cross was not renazified in the sense that the swastica was rebuild. It simply got a new (wrong)core...

That was my thought also, but I showed it to several collector (and Detlev) and they all agreed that it was not replaced, but rebuild.

It looks like I am one of the 'lucky' collectors who have had more of these crosses.
In my early collecting years I bought items to easy, thus not from well known collectors or from dealers like Detlev and most important without proper knowledge! I learned a lot from this forum and especially from Dietrich, Chris Jenkins, Dave Kane, etc.

I hope collectors will find it informative to learn more about renazified crosses. Luckly I saved all photo's from the (renazified) crosses I had.

I will add scans from a simular cross, but which has less damage to the frame.

I would love to give my opinion but sometimes it is not very easy just based on pictures. The cross is a micro 800 A-Type, no doubt. What caused the (strangely symmetric) marks cannot be said based on the pictures. Maybe it was de- and re-nazified and I know of some extremely well done jobs.

Only a hands-on inspection under the microscope can tell more IMHO.

Great pics! I agree with Herr Maerz, hard to say when one isn't holding it! The inner corners aren't goobered up like the other examples.. If it is a rebuild with a previously denazified frame and replaced core, they did a really good jewelers job. For now I'd settle as accepting it as a good piece until someone comes up with something more definitive..
Let me know if you move it out of your collection!

Attaching a new swastika can be done in multiple ways, gluing being the best since no heat is needed. The swastika is not subject to any forces and todays glues will held that thing in place forever!
