Is this an original EK1

Is it for sure three part construction? There's some brass showing where the beading took a hit during the removal of the swastika. Looks like a one piece to me and the pin set up is all wrong for a pre 1945 one piece non magnetic EK1, I wouldn't get it....

I sure its a 3 piece as you see the join on the frame edges plus also there is a slight plit on the frame on one of the corners.

as for its authenticity I'm still unsure help

All components are original.
The frames (Deschler), core (Deschler) and hinge/pin system (at the moment only on L/56 EK's) are known. The three part construction and the non-magnetic core are known, too.

Only the composition is unknown.
But in the history of Iron Cross is nothing impossible.

IMO it's a rare Deschler version (maybe early) which is unfortunately denazified.

Two month ago I saw the first rounded 3 EK I version by Deschler (nothing is impossible).

I would say it's another color (on frame) like on swas.

the cross is no deschler ,,

the numbers are close ,,,but the number 1 is not a mach

the pin no L56 ,,, but very close,,,look at the hinge


its raped with a file...


pin system comes close to the pins on fake's,,, in my upiniun


in my upiniun its at best,,,, a put together model ,,with fake and good parts.

Well just to round this story off

I an got an email from the seller, apologizing about this cross, saying that they couldn't guarantee this cross as being a period piece.

They said that I can have the cross for free if I still wanted it.

I felt this was a very nice gesture on the part of the seller.

so who knows whether this cross is good or not but i really appreciate the honesty of the seller

well got this cross in the post yesterday: i will get some pix later this week

however I dont think there is a lot to prove: it doesnt seem good to me

it is a 3 piece cross

the paint job is bad (possibly redone as goes onto the beading)

but the overall feel I have is that it is a copy. i could be wrong but i doubt it.
