as I looked again at Harrys cross and your picture, I must say I am wrong.

The cross from Vernons book (Rastatt) is the same as the one from Harry and also from Niemann (see posted picture)....

I am only confused by the words of Nimmergut that the Rastatt cross has rounded corners...

Here is Hermes' Cross........thanks David for the 'heads-up' on this thread

Indeed, some of the inner corners of the frame have a rounded appearance. The cross and loop are 800 marked.

I believe Dave Kane owned the case shown with the rounder (with the signature of Hermes), it is a postwar case and was sold here on the e-stand some time ago...

......so this cross was in the museum at Rastatt at some point in time, on loan from Hermes himself. From what I have been told, Hermes eventually sold his RK as he had no children to leave it to (he had a son and a daughter but sadly both have died).

            Hello

Thanks Harry for the additional photos of your RK. Carefull comparison of your RK and the one in Bowens book leaves no doubt in my mind that they are one and the same. Based on the description given of the one in the showcase at the Rastatt, (on loan for display - Ex Oberstleutenant Otmar Hermes), I would say it is safe to assume that you do indeed have Hermes RK.

A great catch, and now with more evidence to support it's provenance.

            Regards
            David
