I do not think that any one would be able to judge from those pictures!

You need to get some better close ups.

Even with these poor pictures I would be very dubious of this ribbon,
without even a close inspection of the weave of the ribbon it is obvious it has never been worn by someone, so begs the question why has it been made up in the first place?

I agree that it is almost impossible to judge from those pictures. But it may be genuin even if it is not used. Does anybody know if such ribbons was sold from dealers during the war to KC winners or was they always custom made from the original ribbon that came with the KC.

I won't argue with the evaluation of the original ribbon shown in this thread, but I would like to note that 50mm ribbon did exist. It was the 1st pattern ribbon and there are KC boxes that had a matching larger size ribbon slot for it. The ribbon is noted in the 1940 edition of the official Odensbuch by Hessenthal-Schreiber!

i think the ribbon is repro, but probably purchased by the veteran himself so dont dismiss it as worthless. im suggesting he just wanted a nice clean ribbon for his cross.

obviously being worn all the time he ribbon got grubby and worn, and after the war there were no more stock in this size. so no doubt the vet purchased this replacement, probably one made in short supply for 1957 awards or replacements to fit the boxes of awards with the wider ribbon, as being early there would have been no more stock remaining of this wider version.

the fact that this has been fabric cut but not had any attachment added to the ends seems to suggest this was purchased a while after the war of course.

I have counted the stitches to 25 on the white part of the band.

The ribbon has a CHANCE to be original but likely mated with the 'ties' years later...

I sent this last ribbon to Detlev Niemann to hear what he tought about it.
He thougt they were original wartime ribbons. He also found it possibly that they was put together during the war.

The most important here is that the ribbons are genuin. If they were put together during the war or after I will never know for sure.

                              Thank you for your comments.
