    Good or bad EKII?

    Well,

This one is causing me troubles identifying. To start with, the metal seems to be good neusilber, although devoid of all frosting, IF it ever had any. The ribbon is large and thin like an early war piece, soldered closed. The core has a double-stamped 1813 date. Die is obviously worn, or the maker, if a faker (I like that - it rhymed), has poor quality control. The excess solder on the frame, from welding the jump ring on, is really bad. The joints seem tight and very well soldered. Did I miss anything? Oh, yes, the frame-to-core fit is very tight, no irregular gaps.

    It's up for opinions, please.

A very nice IC from Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Heeresbedarf i.d. Graveur- u. Ziselierinnung, Berlin.

    Or short: a good 23.

The cross is original in my opinion.

Thanks you guys. It was right under my nose, and I couldn't see it. I must be getting tired or something...

          Thanks,
          Robert

I believe this is a slight variant to what I usually see in a '23' core. The 1813 date, and even the 1939 are just a little different. Here's a collage showing a close up of both 1813 dates. There is some difference, as well as the 1939 dates I posted above...see what you think...

I see two dipping "1"s in the top cross (last pic) - another "Core Blender" maybe - the AG (ARBEITSGEMEINSCHAFT) is, after all a conglomerate of several individual makers, no? Even more chances of mixed parts...
BTW - that first "1" looks like it's about to fall over to the left, is that possible?

                  Good point, Rainer.

                  I even have a '23' with an L/13 core...(L/13 on left, '23' on right)..

Variants Variants, It simply isn't enough anymore to collect just some 142 + makers' EK2s, you'll need to collect their variants, too. That's a whole bunch of EKs for a complete EK2 collection you're looking at...
                    Isn't it fun!

Exactly! The more I buy, the more I realize this, Rainer, my friend!
