    DKiG Dilemma!

    Hello all,

I am preparing for the MAX Show and am doing something I rarely ever do - taking some TR militaria items to sell.

Among the items going to Pittsburgh will be one of my German Crosses in Gold. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me decide which one I should part with.

The photo below shows both, one is a 'heavy', 20-marked piece that has that been there look to it, but is still very solid and in nice shape. The other is a near mint/mint 134-marked one. Both have cases.

So, If you're me, which one goes "bye-bye"?

Thanks for your help, all opinions welcomed...

Hmmm, since neither seems to be attributed, look at the rest of your collection; is it more "mint", or more "been there"? I'd go with that.

            best

I would sell the 20. It seems like there are alway nice ones around, should you want another,

I would keep the heavy 20 and sell the 134.

I would hold on to the heavy 20 ,more so if "NAMED".

There is a name scratched into the back of the "20", but I have been unable to make it out. The 20 does more closely match the condition of my DKiS - possibly another thing in it's favor...

Personally, I would sell the 134, but I think that you shouldn't be bothered to carry it all the way to the show....It could get lost, stolen or broken.....

Why not just TRULY jump-start my fire-destroyed collection by selling it directly to me. This would be JUST what I need to make my re-started collection one to be proud of.....)

C'mon....be the great guy I'll tell my grandchildren about, someday....

                        It's the 20 for me.

                        Hello Skipper,

I know little of these items value, construction or rarity of maker. However, that heavy 20 just jumps out at me saying "I AM AN AWARD AND I WAS THERE". The other one, while nice, says "I was made, put in a box and never saw the conflict nor extraordinary human effort that my kind represents".

Silly? Maybe, but that's the way I see it and I'd sell the 134.

Regardless of which you choose to keep I will take this opportunity to thank you once again for the help you have given me with my edged weapons questions over this last (my first) year.

                        Kind Regards,
                        Stu

If your "20" was the "light" version I would say sell it but being the "heavy" I would say sell the 134. True the "20" are not hard to get hold of but not so IMO of the heavy type.

If they were mine I'd keep them both!!!

Keep the heavy 20 and ditch the mint 134. It will be easier to replace the 134 should you even want/need to do so.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

                              Skipper,

                              Sounds like quite the dilemma!

I'll be more than happy to help you with your problem!
