Winkler has many minatures on his site. Not saying he's 100% correct, but any EK1 and Ek2 combinations are the same size. The only one with a larger cross is the RK.

This thread has opened up for a very interesting topic and once Dietrich's book has reached the shelfs, I'm convinced a lot of discussions will occur.
Darrell, Winkler has both 2x9mm and 11x9mm combos of EK's, non of them labelled as RK by him.
For the record, here's my personal opinion regarding the 1939 EK and KVK:
      1 9mm EK = EK 2nd class
      2x9mm EK =EK1+EK2
      1 16mm EK (for chain)= EK 2nd class
      1 16mm EK (pin)= EK 1st class
      11x9mm EK= EK1+EK2

11x9mm KVK= RK+KVK1 (regardless of swords or not on the 1st class)

      cheers
      Peter

Here is a member's (not sure who this belongs to), who had two KVK1 w/ swords the same size on a stickpin. This would indicate KVK1 w/ Swords 1st and KVK2 w/ Swords in my book.

Peter, you used to have a similar combination at one time to the one that started this thread

In my book too Darrell . But in this case it's not the size that really matters, there was no 1st class in bronze. Btw, does anyone else find it odd with a 1957-type WB on this combo

            cheers

Perhaps it is a WW1 wound badge?

Very nice collection you got there Darrell - can't post mine as currently in the bank for safe keeping. I stand by what I said the larger KVK is definately the RK. Regards Paul

Not exactly sure how that one works. Obviously required 2nd Class > 1st Class > RK. Not sure if you had to earn the 1st w/ Swords to get the RK w/ Swords or if the 1st w/o Swords would do?
For anyone who has the Book "Medals and decorations of Hitler's Germany" by Robin Lumsden if you flip to page 100 there is a photo of Johannes Engel who is wearing a KVK1 without swords and an Rk to the KVK with swords

Could be, but I strongly doubt it. If it indeed is the case, it would explain this EK-combo in zinc

                        cheers

Jon, here's a shot of SS-Brigadeführer Hans Kehrl with the same features.
SS-Brigadeführer August Korreng recieved the same decorations.

                              cheers
