I have never seen a more sturdy pin assembly on any EKI than from these two makers Godet and Zimmermann. They're built to withstand the hardest field conditions. I honestly think the loops would be torn free from the tunic before the pin or catch failed, really tough. The Deumer's pin is weak, thin compared to these two...

Look at the quality of design, the numerous beading, the artistic design of the date, the exactness and high relief of the swastika. The Godets/Zimmermanns were/are beautiful...

This isn't a Zimmermann/Godet. It's an early Deumer. The main difference characteristic is the form inside of the needle before the hinge. I don't find the words in english. Because of that i'll show pictures from an Zimmermann and an Deumer to explain it.
The crosses manufactured by Zimmermann and Godet are the same product. In the book "The Iron Cross of 1939" by Williamson you will find on the pages 145/146 a study about the similarity of an L/50 and L/52.

catches at last - note how the Deumer is cut at the base and the Zimmermann's (took that from the pic you posted, Robert, hope you'll excuse, I did not have one at hand right now) and the Godet's "melt" into the cross...Comment
