    L/17 marked EK1 Spange surfaced

    Hi all,

I had this one up for discusion in the past, but back then I couldnt tell the whole story.
Now its time to bring them up again. What I have here is a L/17 marked EK1 Spange. This one is 1 out of 7 that were purchased directly from the son of Hermann Wernstein in Jena. I do know that they normaly should not exist, but what can I say, we have directly purchased them in Jena from the son of Wernstein. Originaly we purchased a big lot of hundreds of small tinnies and badges from the pre war area and older, these Spange were a throw in, or a gift or whatever you want to call it. We were asking for TR badges all the time but there were non left except for those 7 Spange, which he throwed in after we showed heavy interest.

When I had the Spange for discusion first, it raised alot of concerns and opinions. Of course its hard to believe in them as they should not exist at all.
I have it up again to ask you for your help. The thing is that I wonder why they are executed so poorly at the back ? This one has the pin placed a little bit too much left. Also the cut out on the box and swastika is poorly done. Otherwise there was one which had the pin completly missing. On others the neadle is straight, but the poor cut out seems to be consitant on all the 7 badges.
So what is your opinion about them ? Are they house pattern or something like that ?

    Bests Jens

If they are original they might be rejected pieces that was never thrown away.

Hi Peter, thanks for your reply.

Well, that could be a possibility. With rejected pieces you mean pieces that were rejected by the Präsidialkanzlei ??

                          Many thanks Jens

Ok, but did they ever had an order to make them ?
