      Ben, that sounds super-interesting
can you post some pics? L/56 spangen are pretty rare as it is!

        ... just checking my files,
and yes, it seems that L/13 EK2 (segment claw die) spangen match the L/56s!

        as a side
L/56 EK1 spangen are out on their own, resembling nothing else as far as I can see
it seems maybe L/13 were cranking spangen out, selling some to be marked L/17(1st+2ndclass) and even some 2ndclass being marked L/56... all using their own hardware too?
        regards
        jon

                that's an amazing find
                to clarify my earlier ramble:
                L/13, L/17, and L/56 EK2spangen have the same obverse
and L/13 and L/17 EK1spangen have the same obverse

                and also
I thought I was the only one who had an L/56 family:

gotta be L/13, they are far more common
                    L/57s use L/57 hardware, and L/17 use L/17 hardware
                    ???
                    regards

                      Jon,

The top is the hardware for the Unknown maker and the bottom is the L/17. The both look the same to me. I borrowed Jens photo from this post to make the comparison.
