      Can anyone post an identical looking ribbon that is a KNOWN fake? It seems a lot would be around on repro sites, etc.

        It could be spoken the other way around. If it is original why do we not see more of it attached to original crosses and in documented award groups?

          I was reticent to bring this up because of the 'family' connection but here we go!

          Somewhere doen the line someone possibly attempted to 'age' the ribbon by way of bleaching or more likely soaking it in peroxide and allowing it to air dry.

          I have seen the 'golden' effect resulting from peroxide and slow drying...

          Many attempts to achieve a 'faded look' on visor caps etc utilized the old 60's (girl's) trick of SUN and PEROXIDE to get the blond look!
