Hello everyone!

You have just confirmed what I felt all along However, there is still one question remains though : is it made by an unknown maker as David says or J.E Hammer & Son, Geringswalde as according to Marcus?

I thought it was kinda agreed that it is a J.E Hammer & Son. Marcus found one in a named packet, and another was shown years ago marked 55 (although there was no pic of the mm)

Another question, from someone new to spanges, comes to mind: would it be safe to call it an early, first pattern piece , based on the way the prongs are attached, etc. or a second pattern ? How do you tell that? THX

this is what we generally call a 2nd pattern
1st pattern spangen have concave ends to the date box
