If this one is not a wartime issue, then when was it made? What is the difference between a wartime issue and a non wartime issue? why are they not called "fakes"? (please do not miss undestand me, I am not saying that your cross is a FAKE. I just want to know I am a begginer here).

WHAT A COLLECTION!!! Oak leaves and swords and a PLM!! I cannot believe it.

Here I am jumping with my only Iron Cross Firts Class (I got it here in the forum, a L/11), and dieing for an Spange first class 1939, and then I come and see those super collections of Knight Crosses...

To have one will be like dreaming.

                Edgar,
It is a REAL RK just made earlier after the war by firma S&L, which as you know an offical producer of the Ritterkreuz. The only difference between my cross and a wartime issue is that the medal on mine is a better silver grade, has die flaws, and the core is made of brass. But the paint is wartime, and the design is a classic S&L. I hope this helps. Also the market vaule of these peices range between $2,500-$3,000 (you can get cheaper if you find the right seller).

                              Hi Edgar.....

Many high end collectors hesitate to post pictures of their collections as it might be viewed as "bad taste". All I can say is that there are members of this forum who have quite staggering collections....so I'd lose any competion before I began !

Quite honestly, the most cherished piece I have is one awarded to my grandfather in the trenches in Flanders in 1916, where he served as a 16 year old (he lied about his age)....not worth much on the market, but priceless to me.

So with your EK1....someone probably went through hell to have been awarded it. It certainly isnt a humble piece....and stands up there proudly in its own right.

                              Regards
                              Chris
