Signs on the "24" iron cross

Hello fellow collectors,

I'm a bit interested in the marks on the small ring on the 'Hanauer Plakettenhersteller' Iron cross.

Does the "WR" inscribtion have to be on the small ring (the one the frame of the cross) for it to be original?

Are there any crosses inscribed ONLY with the 24 mark on the large ring?

Hi, yes some are only marked with the number. I know there is a baltic cross marking and an acorn marking found on the small ring of some.

There are more markings than just the 2 I mentioned , but others will have to tell us because those are the only ones I have!

There is a theory (a sound one but as far as I know still only a theory) that the various manufacturers (or plants that assembled these) marked the small ring perhaps with the company name (owners name) i.e acorn for Herr Eichorn, cross for Herr Kreuz.
