I think it's a good one. But I'm not a great EK 1 expert, so more opinions are needed.

franki is more or less right. in fact the cross is a L/15 (L "Slash" 15) Schickle.

I agree that this is most probably a Schickle, but I defer to your experience and ask why it couldn't be an Alois Rettenmaier, or L/59.

                  That is a legitimate question.
Please have a sharp look at the date, especially at the "3" and I am sure you will cognize a different. The same apply for the outside flute corners.

                    you are so right, franki!

there is one basic rule when you want to find out ones EK's maker:

NEEEEEVER look at the needle first. it should only be a "second" proof or legitimation of that you have seen or identificated while scaning the obverse. - and the overse in this case speaks very clear words: Friedl Schickle.

                      Thanks

A good eye and vast knowledge are a great thing to have! I too believed it to be a Schickle, but was curious as to the minor differences between the two makers, and after careful analysis of the core, it is definately distinguishable from a Rettenmaier, and I now know exactly what to look for in the future. Thanks again for the priceless education. R
