But i cant get it, ive seen some info and it says the cross with diamonds was never awarded ???

I agree with you - they look better in the case. Unfortunately, for reasons of PC, the 3 examples in West Point will very rarely (if at all) be displayed. That is another shame - on top of what you mentioned.
