    Most desirable EK1??

    Hi guys

I would like to hear your expert opinions on what would be the most desirable cased EK1´s, what makers, variations, condition etc.

Im scouring the dealer sites for my dream grouping of a cased EK1 with urkunde, photos etc. Not likely to find that, so I may have to settle for a very nice cased EK1. Any advice or recommendations much appreciated

    Why not a 20-marked Zimmermann?

As a collector it should be the one that you like best and find most desirable.

I have several I really find desirable because I can't seem to just pick one.

I agree with this. There have been many times that generally accepted "favorites" in the collecting world have not appealed to me personally, but the fact that I may be in the minority doesn't bither me at all. You have to choose one that speaks to you. I can see 50 Ek's at one time, and there is always that one......

Always that 'one'. You must be talking about a Fritz Zimmermann(6).

I took the assumption that you had great taste! When one looks at a F. Zimmermann, compared to others, it's hefty frame just jumps out at you, and it's amore

Amen to that, Tony. I love all my "babies" the same.

I would say an attributed cross with 100% provenance is the best. My favorite is one I have in a grouping, an L/11. I know who won it, when, and why. To me, that beats all the rest.

Hank you are a man after my own heart. The history is what drives my collecting, mainly of named daggers so far.

So, if i want to find an F Zimmerman, do i look for the number 6 stamped on the back?

                        Thanks

Yup. I've actually had TWO 6. mm'ed crosses, but have sold both in the quest for other goodies.

My only EK1 is a screw back L13 dedicated to Ober LT. Ernst Helm from the 33rd Flak Regiment. He was also related to Biggette Helm the 1920's moive actress.

I would say that out ranks them all. A first class with provenance is rare. Did you got it in a grouping or by itself? Either way, that's awesome. I'll just have to settle with my love of the ole 6's for now.
