    Interesting Iron Cross

I was going through a box of Iron Cross 2nd Class and found this example that is noticeably small than normal. The swastika and dates are also smaller. I assume just a maker's variant, but why make it smaller?

It measures only 43.22 mm and weighs only 13.30 grams. It is beautifully frosted and burnished, with light toning and has a non-iron center.

In the first photo, it is posted next to a standard size Iron Cross.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

Note acid frosting, not painted type and the very small swastika and date.

Better watch it Bob, someone will label it a fake. Nice cross to me though.

          Hello

It looks like a perfectly good cross to me. Although it is smaller than the 'normal' EK2, with some of the manufacturing techniques employed at the time there are bound to be some differences in size, weight etc, especially in the very early period of the war before production was more rigorous controlled.

Either way, a nice and unusual cross.

          Regards
          David
