        I think maybe the pebbling differences could be down to lighting?

            No, trust me. In hand the difference is apparent. (And again, I'm not saying that either example is bad -- just that they are different. )

                Below is a picture of the date box from my Bar to the EK1. When I originally posted this on the forum some months ago it was given the 'thumbs up' as a text book B H Mayer.
