It is what really surprised me when I discovered that many Americans think that way: "Americans won the war and all other countries were just helping." Hey, sometimes people even ask me "On what side Russia fought - Germans or Americans?"
There was only one MAIN reason why the Third Reich fell - Russia. There is no comparison between what was involved and happened on Eastern front and Western: biggest forces, biggest battles, biggest losses, critical turn points etc. Think about - 80% of all German losses in WW2 occurred on the Eastern front.
US helped and helped a lot, but only helped... (when the beast was already long-dying).

Certainly the Russians bore the brunt of the German war machine and continued on fighting when there was hardly anyone else in the game. Even though America did not enter the war until much later it was our Lend Lease That kept everyone in the war until we were in the war with enough trained people. But you can't say that we helped when the beast was already long-dying. We kept the Russians supplied with materials to keep them in the war so they wouldn't make a seperate peace (which was our great fear). Don't be too hard on us in thinking we deserve all the credit for winning the war, we just want the acknowledgement that if it wasn't for us we would all be speaking German.

As for the Russians giving out HSU's like candy, I don't fault any Russian his medals. I would proudly shake the hand of a man/woman that received one.

While I would love to discuss how America won the war, which we did, this is a thread re:KC's vs CMOH's...lets start a new thread, or stick to this one or else a moderator will reign us in a bit.

I would love to, but sometimes you got to respond to things.

But I would like to continue this in a way that we can come up with a comparison between the two awards (let's not include the VC or HSU for right now please) by showing us the citations of combat awards of the RK.

We know the Moh had non-combat, and inclusive (mutlitple actions or extreme leadership) awards for example: McArthur - already mentioned, General Vandergriff - his leadership for Guadacanal, "Pappy Boyington" for CO of Sqdn 214, Eugene Fluckey - CO of USS Barb for actions involving his 11 combat patrol, and so on.

RK's were given of course for similiar circumstances: Rudel of course, Wittman, we know that one as well. Galland, the many U-boot Captains and so forth.

There are prior listings of MoH holders on this thread for single combat actions, I would like to see some single combat actions for RK winners listed here. There must be some so we can do a comparison?
