    EK2 - 24 - Ribbon Bow!

    Hi Everyone,

I picked this up at the weekend, a 24 marked EK2 with a ribbon bow, presumably for wear by a woman.

This is the first time I have seen an EK2 with such a ribbon and I wondered if any other forum members have any EK2's mounted in such a style?

    Thanks for looking.

    Best,
    Toby.

            Hi Ashley,

            Thanks for replying.

Unfortunately, the batteries are dead on my UV lamp (guess what I'm doing now!).

A positive sign though: there is discoloration to the ribbon where it has rubbed agains the ring.

Anyway, off to beat my UV lamp up.

            Best,
            Toby.

I have now fixed my UV lamp and tested the thread - no reaction whatsoever under UV - hooray!

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

              Best,
              Toby.

looks very nice, but I guess we'll all never know for sure... I'd put it in the same bracket as field converted EK2/RKs!
where is it from, any story behind it?
                regards

Jon is right -- we'll never know for sure. But it's an interesting variation to have, as long as you didn't pay more for it than for a standard "24."

It looks like slag from the solder.

Thanks for the further replies on this.

Firstly, I can't say anything significant about the origins of the Cross. I bought it from a friend this weekend past, who in turn had got it in response to a recent ad in his community, asking for militaria. It was sold as nothing more than a second class Iron Cross.

Whilst we can't be certain as to the reality of the piece, it is an interesting item nonetheless.

As to the question of the protrusions at the inner corners of the cross arms, this is indeed solder. It has been finished to varying degrees at each of the corners. Sloppy workmanship or something more sinister?

                        Thanks and regards,
                        Toby.

Backside note the white thin ribbon is added some time as it glows.
It´s markt on 3 places on the ring, to now i cant say what the maker is?

Ps the front delfines or monogram is silver.

That's an interesting one, Meriksson. Do you know anything about its history? Presumably, the monogram is for the recipient?

Can you post a reverse shot please?

                              Thanks,
                              Toby.
