    EK1 Awards

I have read various statistics on how many EK1' s were awarded in WWII. They range from a low of 300,000 to a high of 750,000. Maybe I have a little tunnel vision as a collector, but it seems like the EK1 was more common than these numbers indicate, if only because we see so many of them.

Would anyone like to offer an insight and/or educated guess as to how many awards of the EK1 there were in WWII? Thanks.

    Larry,

Well, you are looking at award numbers, not production numbers. When you think guys had replacements, or another EK1 for his dress uniform, and then the ones never awarded, then we are getting up there...

I just happen to have Bowen here in the office and he lists 740K awarded...

    Regards,
    Marc

an important distinction, awarded vs. produced.

i,too, am impressed with the wide range of
numbers one sees in considering the number awarded.
