The cross has also a non-iron core and Gordon assumes that this cross is a retail piece that was handed over to the PKZ after sales were forbidden. This would mean that this cross is a pre-LDO amnufacture (non-iron) but marked with a PKZ number. This makes no sense at all.

Furthermore, I'm quite sure that I can see the knee flaw as well as the dent row. This is a B-type and it is non magnetic. It also shows the infinished, overlapping ring halves. It must also be remarked that the cross has no 'frosting', something all 935-4 pieces exhibit so nicely. I don't think it was worn away that completely.

It looks to me to have the remanants of the frosting on the inner frame. Dietrich are you saying this cross is post war.

Other B-Type crosses have also frosting - like the 935 (i.e. w/o '4'). I'm just saying that the first B-Type was the 935-4 (IMHO) and why would another (later) B-Type have a non-iron core? And I'm really not sure about the frosting on this cross.

"This is confirmed by the award of examples such as the Knight's Cross illustrated here which was awarded to Hauptmann Rolf Stiegart in January 1945. This piece, despite being an official award piece, has a non-regulation zinc center suggesting it is almost certainly one of those retail pieces which were handed over"

The above taken from: The Iron Cross of 1939, pg 314 by Gordon Williamson

I think that Herr Stiegart along with many many other RKt's shopped at venues owned by Herr Knoth as reflected in my REVUE magazine dated May 23, 1953

As so often occures authors merely repeat 'stories' that unfortunately aren't based in fact!

Well, Is this cross marked 4/935 or simply 934. I cant make it out. But it would seem to be post war anyway.
