I had no idea it came form Detlev I'll talk to him and perhaps he can shed some light on this one for me - I don't like it, but my opinion is......just that !

Do you have the Detlev Cert. ?? Any info on that as such ?

      Hi Marcus,

According to Craig Gottlieb no COA from Detlev because he purchased it from him without one. Here is a link that I found which looks to me to be the exact same case.

        Marcus,

After reading your link I have just a few points I would like to make.

The cross fits exactly in the recess including the ring and the ribbon recess also exactly the width of an EK2 ribbon so what else could it be for?

After seeing that the base can be partly removed I also did the same and with my UV light absolutely no glow whatsoever which is neither here nor there but at least it shows that no modern bleach is present.

Finally I did take a photo of the glue on the base and compared it to my EK1 case and my SCiS LDO case and to me there is no difference.

Now these are observations that I have made and I'm not trying to change your opinion, in fact I thank you for your comments but at this stage I can't see anything that leads me to think that it's not a period piece. This was not a cheap case and if its not right then I would like to know why other than just the "look" of it.

        Regards,
        AB.

        Here are the photos.

              SCiS case.

As a footnote, three digit phone numbers which in this case is 615, was I believe, used during the TR period.

                Hi Andrew and Marcus,

I don't know much about these cases so I can't say much about it. But I do know that there are a lot of different "private purchased" cases, and I think this is the only one with a name in the lid.

                a few point:

                1. could it be a case for a WWI EKII?

                2. If the case is normally used for another post '45 award, I don't think it would be that hard to change the inner to fit a EKII.

                3. I don't like the lettering used for this name, but this was already said by other members.

                4. Because the name of the makers' mark says "Goldschmied" I think its fair to say that this name is not the name of a case maker, but it refers to the medal in the case. I don't think there is any WWII award maker known with this name.

I know that there is a possibility that the goldschmied didn't have the tools or contract to make the EKII, and purchased it from one of the official makers. (is the maker always the same for this cross, in this case?)
Well but the seller could have put his best EKII in it, so everytime a different maker.

Good luck with it! Because the prices of these PP cases are so high it is getting more and more lucrative to make these kind of cases!

                Best, Thomas

I'll be back to this thread, sorry for the delay, but work commands. Andrew I've pm'd you.

                  Thomas,

It would be more likely if genuine to be a retailers name in the case, rather than an award and certainly case maker.

The base itself does have an ''Imperial'' resemblance, as it does compare to some post war examples too.

I'll answer all questions and points to the best of my ability come this weekend when I'll be able to spend some time on the forum.
