    KVK 1 box

    Hello everyone,

A friend of mine (member of this Forum but can´t post) bought this box in a local flea market. He asked me about it and after I saw the too new looking condition, the space for the needle is too narrow and the glue marks inside make me think it´s a 1957 type box.
What do think, am I right?

    Thanks in advance,
    Adolph.

The marks in the liner belongs to a fake WWI EK1 that was bought with the box.

We've seen these before I canlt find the other pic's for this type. I don't thinks it a '57, in fact I'm not sure they even had cases similar or like this for '57 awards of such a class.....RK and DK well yes.

I'm thinking this could well be a period latter war box if honest.....if wrong it would be a fake not a '57.

I know of genuine cases of latter periods (the bases like such as in yours) that don't fit the awards properly. One such is a KVK from a vet who took several items from a 'Deumer hoard' in their cases and packets and KVK sits half in the slit and half out. I've seen the exact cases with other Deumers and the same previals.

At the moment I'll give it a notional ok.....I will get back to this and confirm on my opinion only, I'm 51% - 49% at the moment. More in favour though !

That case aint a 1957 case they never made these as 1957 .

              If it aint a pre 45 it,s a reproduction one .

I think you can get these off Nicolas Morigi or Muller militaria .

                  Grant,

Not to be funny but please check your facts before making blanket statements like this and scaring people off possibly authentic items.

Morigis cases are the well known Muller made case and they look totally different. In fact, like this

I'm not sure about the originality of this case, but i can see the impression of an EK inside the lid?

Any chance of better photos of the underside of the black velvet inseert, and the white material seperating the top and bottom of the case?

Has the case been 'black light' tested?

The base looks good, I like these mold looking 'screw heads' we can see. The catch is unlike the fake types of the square button, they normally have a more rounded head for this type. It's a little squat on top, but I think we are ok to date with this one.

A well formed impressed KVK motif also is a nice sign, it looks of a more dull silver than fake bright examples and the case isn't worn or aged, so the combination bodes better than not.

The inners of the case look to conform also, although difficult to assess.

The only niggle I had was the outer covering, perhaps it's the persepctive of the image but I wanted check against known fake outer coverings like this just to make sure. It's hard to keep up with all these bloody fakes !!

After all, we get fake cases with genuine bases in etc !!

Overall as implied intially I like it more than not. I would say with the information I have and little growing knowledge I've attained (I'm no expert....but thanks anyway ) it stands to pertain to more genuine traits than 'other' in my opinion.

So in conclusion to date, yes in my opinion it looks good and pre 1945.

Allan makes good points and it would be wise to contribute such pic's and indeed if able do a black light test for the sake certainly.
